Solar X – Masters Of Meanders (Ant-Zen)

Label Description:

this is a digital reissue and extended version of the 3″cd ‘masters of meanders’ by the pioneer of post-perestroika russian electronic music roman belavkin aka SOLAR X. 5 songs were originally released as 3″ cd via the compilation ‘travel sickness’ on hymen records. enriched and completed with three lost and unreleased songs, recorded in the same period of time.

roman belavkin, known as SOLAR X, is a russian artist praised for his contributions to electronic music, martial arts, and artificial intelligence. SOLAR X’s unique sound draws from idm, electro and experimental electronica, characterized by deep basslines and delicate melodies. his compositions often evoke themes of space, nature, and human emotion, guiding listeners through introspective and cosmic journeys.

his second album ‘xrated’ (1997) was reissued and recognized by the wire for showcasing the soviet union’s untapped talent. in 1998, he signed with london’s worm interface label, and his album ‘little pretty automatic’ has been lauded as one of the best in electronic music. a key figure in russian electronic music, belavkin founded the art-tek records label, introducing post-soviet artists to the world. recently, ptuch magazine named SOLAR X the most influential person in modern russian electronic music.

The three long-form songs seamlessly blend into each other and feature layers of lush strings and woodwinds, haunting sound design, French horns, percolating synthesizers, Japanese koto, and field recordings.
